Raised near Cleveland, OH, Dave Miglin moved to the Des Moines area in 2013 to lead Strategic America’s digital strategy team. Dave brings to the board of StageWest nearly 28 years of local search and recruitment advertising experience encompassing digital (SEM, SEO, social media, mobile marketing, website design and online branding) and traditional print media.
Dave and his family thoroughly enjoy living in the Ingersoll Park section of Des Moines, because of the close proximity to downtown and the many cultural/arts events it has to offer.
Sue has worked for over thirty years for Nationwide Agribusiness Insurance, currently as a Consultant, Business Project Manager. A former music major at Simpson College, Sue has always loved and supported the performing arts scene in central Iowa.
Sue and her spouse Bonnie have a home in Des Moines with some delightful Pomeranians. In addition to taking in as much local theater as time allows, they are both extremely active in the local dog clubs.
John Wild Treasurer
John Wild is the General Manager of Iles Funeral Homes. As a funeral director John has had the privilege of serving families of central Iowa for over 30 years. He and his wife Peggy are both Simpson College graduates and enjoy supporting the Arts in Central Iowa. John is honored to serve on the board of StageWest. He looks forward to contributing to the continued success of StageWest and fostering its place in the community.
Mr. Hart serves as an Information Security, Governance and Risk Management Engineering consultant to ADT Security Service’s Product and Innovation Division. Previously, he formulated a fraud mitigation system for a financial services company. He advised on enterprise risk management, the firm increased 600% in users and 2000% in funds transferred during Mr. Hart’s tenure. He worked side by side with software engineers and product managers ensuring new releases were compliant with applicable regulatory requirements and fit within the risk appetite of the leadership team. Mr Hart previously had consulting engagements with: The United States Senate Finance Committee, Real Estate Investment Funds, and local governments.
Mr. Hart holds a Master in Public Administration in Public Policy from Drake University, a Master of Arts in Developmental and Educational Psychology from Boston College. He received his bachelors degree from Rocky Mountain College. Mr. Hart serves on several non-profit boards in the Des Moines, IA Metro area.
Judy Deutch Board Member/Governance Comm. Chair
Judy works at FBL Financial Group, Inc., as a Senior Document Management Specialist in the Life Compliance Department. Previously, she spent many fulfilling years teaching blind and visually impaired students in Des Moines Public Schools and elsewhere.
Devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Judy and her husband often travel to Los Angeles to visit their two daughters and granddaughter. She loves to read, work out and volunteer in the local community. Theatre has always been a passion of Judy’s and she is a committed member of the StageWest board.
Jeanne Hopson Board Member
Jeanne M. Hopson, born and educated in Des Moines, Iowa, attended Drake University and began a successful career in children’s theatre in the mid 60’s. Throughout her 50+ theatre career, her primary focus has been in community theatre. Jeanne served on staff for ten years with The Des Moines Playhouse, (then a 6,000 member theatre) as Assistant Director for the adult theatre and director of the theatre For Young People. She served four years on staff with Charlie’s Showplace, a semi-professional dinner theatre in Des Moines, and then free-lanced with professional theatres in Minneapolis, Kansas City and Chicago.
Before moving to the La Crosse area, Hopson was Artistic/Administrative director for The Children’s Theatre and School of Western Springs, Illinois. In 1991, Hopson Founded and served as Artistic/Administrative Director of The La Crosse Family Playhouse and School. The La Crosse Playhouse was named the Most Outstanding New Children’s Theatre and School in the United States and Canada in 1997/98 by the American Alliance of Theatre and Education. Jeanne was the first female named and honoured as a Des Moines Playhouse “Legend”.
Jeanne has been married for 58 years to Robert Hopson, a retired actuary. They have raised five children and have 14 grandchildren.
Mary Ellen Kimball Board Member
Mary Ellen Kimball’s interests include the arts, aviation, philanthropy and travel. She founded the Clarke Area Arts Council (CAAC) in 1972, the South Central Iowa Theater (SCIT) in 1980 and produced 17 stage productions. She received the Governor’s Award for Promotion of the Arts in Iowa. Cultural boards include: Iowa Arts Council, Iowa Public Television, Dance Co’Motion, Ballet Iowa, KSOI-91.9 FM, Iowa Cultural Trust Foundation, and StageWest.
Mary Ellen was inducted into Iowa’s Volunteer Hall of Fame, named the Outstanding Young Woman in Iowa, has her art in collections throughout the country and received an award from the EAA for giving introductory airplane rides to children.
Mary Ellen is married to Dr. Jim Kimball and they live in Osceola, Iowa.
Originally from Mason City, Bryan moved to Des Moines in 1973. He spent 36 years at Northwestern Bell, US West, and Qwest where he work as an order specialist, PBX instructor, and a Corporate Trainer among other jobs. Bryan has been active in theater both on and off stage since 1972. His most recent on stage roles have been Otto Woodnick in Food Chain and Snug in A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Bryan has been on many backstage crews including costumes, stage manager and the prop crew. In 2011 Bryan became the StageWest’s first Administrative Assistant and in 2013 became the Business Manager.
Jonathan Wilson General Counsel
Senior shareholder in the Davis Brown Law Firm, Jonathan serves as General Counsel to StageWest Theatre Company. A 1971 graduate of the University of Iowa Law School, he clerked for the US Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, and taught at the Australian National University and Drake University Schools of Law before joining the Davis Brown Law Firm. He has two children and four grandchildren. He and his partner have a home in Des Moines and Phoenix, Arizona, as well as a little farm in southeast Iowa.
